I wait in hope
for your salvation, God.
(The Message)
Could this be a forshadowing of the salvation that Jesus will bring?

one of twelve
jealousy drove a wedge in
God used the wedge to humble Joseph
Then when he was so humble God promoted him to ruler of an entire region...not just one nation but many...then He restored him to his family...oh the goodness of You Lord!!!

I have read the Bible many times before, however, I realized how much I missed this. I am at Day 4 and I found myself wanting to continue to read. I have to discipline myself so I do not burn out.
The story of Joseph today brought tears to my eyes. If anything, Joseph's story tells us that negative events in our lives may at times have nothing to do with whether we're following God or whether God loves us... (because He loves us unconditionally) It's not about God's will for "our lives" but all about God's WILL (period!) Joseph's life was threatened ... Joseph was sold into slavery... Joseph was thrown into a dungeon for doing the right thing... All of this was for God's will! When we say, "Your will be done," we have to be ready and willing to go through "stuff" in our lives so we can be part of God's overall will for His kingdom on earth. This is a story of not MY WILL but HIS WILL and our limited understanding of GOD HIMSELF.

Again, I saw the favour of God and the jelousy of man and just how each of these can affect our lies!
Joseph saw things He did not understand and God allowed slavery which seemed the direct opposite of what He had dreamed, but God in His time allowd this dream to come to pass.
I have learned that thefavour of God is with us EVRYWHER, even in jail! All we need is to keep our faith huigh and be faithful even though it costs us everythng, trusting that If it si of God, indeed He will bring it to pass. Who ever thouht Joseph would recover from the slavery,prison,e.t.c and become nearly a Pharoah in a foreign land?

Having just completed reading the first book of Genesis, I'm struck by the wonder of God's promises, strong covenants that bind us to Him as His people and the amazing fulfillment of his plans--especially in the miraculous story of Joseph who God used in his captivity in Egypt in order to protect and preserve his own family in the time of famine. Thank you, God, for your promises, and help me to always remember that you have good plans for each of us...especially me.

I tried to read the bible with reading it within one year however I failed several times. However,I have found that this plan is easier and simpler. I just read straight through and actually find it interesting. I don' thave to flip back and forth and by reading the bible in stories you will have read pages and pages without even knowing it. I find myself ready to read. I think about it all day. I am so glad that I finally have found a plan that I can stick with and actually read like I am supposed to.

- God is awesome to bring blessing out of the worst that evil men and this world can throw against us
- Trust and obedience toward God can bring us through the most unfavorable circumstances
- If I want to read the Bible in the morning, I need to not stay up too late the night before
- God can redeem even the most dysfunctional family situations
- Jacob confessed that he was a stranger and a pilgrim on this earth

I thought that Gen 45:24 was intresting. Joseph told his brothers not to quarrel on the way back.
Also, when Pharaoh asked Jacob how old he was he replied that the years of his piligrimage was a 130.

In reading Genesis 1-38, I have seen how Abraham, Sarah, Hagar, Isaac, Rachel, Jacob, Rebekkah and Leah all faced problems and circumstances that seemed impossible to overcome and how God would come and provide for them. I had read through Genesis earlier this year but now it seems to be coming alive personaly. Now beginning the story of Joseph, I continue to see this theme.

I started the 90 day program on 6/29/2007. I didn't read on Friday and got busy on the weekend, but had time today. I read the whole book of Genesis and was very suprised. I think I might be able to read the whole Bible once a month, baby steps though. I'll just continue on the 90 day challenge and then work my way up. I'll have to be sure to always make that time and not allow things to hinder me from my goal.
