This is a lot of ground to cover in one sitting. What stands out in my mind is faith vs. lack of faith. Abram/Abraham had the faith to leave his country. He trusted God to provide an heir, but not enough to trust God to provide an heir through Sarah. He trusted God to protect him, but not enough to overcome Sarah's beauty and he feared for his life. So, he had Sarah say she was his sister. Isaac repeated this with Rebekah.

Lot's daughters did not have faith for God to provide husbands and heirs, so they deceived their father and impregnated themselves in an horrible way. I was also struck by the descendents of Lot's daughters. One daughter had Moabites. Another had Ammorites. I believe the Ammorites were the ancestors of Haman. The Moabites produced Ruth.

Jacob's treachery always amazes me.
