Day 3: Genesis 27:38 - 28:30

Okay, so it's already started...I'm getting behind. I knew the 90 day challenges was going to be a CHALLENGE, but I at least thought it would take me a few days to get behind. But, as Brian told us, the Bible team's mission is more people engaging the Bible more. So even though I'm not completely caught up, I'm still reading more of God's word than before, so it's a win.

That said, I think I'm going to have to be more creative in finding time and means to read. Yesterday I read a chapter as I was taking my car through the car wash...and it lead to a cool converation with the guy at the station. I think this challenge is going to give me a renewed sense of Sabbath since I think Sundays will be my catch up days!

A few quick thoughts on what I did read yesterday:

  • Abraham had another wife after Sarah died, Keturah And then, at age 100+, he had six kids with her. I'm thinking there was a slight age difference between Abraham and his new bride. Then in first 5, it says that Abraham gave gives to the sons of his concubines. This family bush is confusing me. I know he had three wives: Sarah, Hagar (who is refered to as a wife, not a concubine...I think), and Keturah. So who are these concubines and how many other kids did he have?!
  • I think the general theme of Genesis is family dysfunctions have been around since Adam...literally!

On a light hearted note, a colleague passed this website on to me, an interesting way to catch up on the basic themes:
