Day 6Submitted by Jen Abbas on Fri, 04/01/2005 - 16:38.
Okay, so I figured out the secret to making my reading time. Yesterday I grabbed my Bible, notebook, pen headed to Barnes & Noble. As an author, reader and publishing company employee, this store gets all my literary juices flowing! I ordered a chai frappuccino as a nod to my friend, Chris, who is also taking the challenge with me. (Anyone know anything about the Nephilim?) An hour later, my 12 pages read and notes, I rewarded myself with a stroll through the store. In a minor miracle, I walked out without a purchase...(never mind, I got the frappuccino...) As a way of building my ever-bruising ego, I've decided to make each day a new challenge. I read all 12 pages yesterday, so I'm on track. It's a win because I got into God's word. I took my sense of accomplishment with me to the neurologist today and enjoyed his enthusiasm over my progress. ("We were quite concerned there for a while, Jen. You're doing great! You'll be off meds yet!") It's a happy day. God makes water out of rock and heals my head so it stops acting like a rock. On a different note, I'm caving to peer pressure and switching to the TNIV. I picked up my new, red pocket TNIV with RIBBON (never really used a ribbon before now). It's been cool to hear how others are finding this translation to be clearer so I thought this is a good time to find out for myself! Here's to a weekend of keeping on track! |
