Today's reading made me realize once again that I am a child. I am not patient, I throw hissy fits, I disobey my parents, and I eat all kinds of junk food that I should not eat. Therefore I related very well to the readings this week.
Case in point: Chapter 8 - Israel asks for a King. Samuel spells it out: here are all the terrible things that will happen to you if you have a King. Amazingly enough, the Israelites don't care. As a matter of fact, they pull the old middle school excuse: "All the other kids are doing it." Now, I was not a rebellious kid, but there were several times when people have said: "Don't do it. Here are all the terrible things that will happen if you do." And what do I do? I do it. And in all truth, half the time I probably came out unscathed and half the time I probably came out with a few scars.
In the end, I've decided that I'm okay with the fact that I am a child. I'm God's child. I honestly don't think that God believes that humans will be perfect. Does he want us to "give up" and perpetuate sinfulness in our lives? No. Does he want us to live in him? Yes.
Another 2 cents from me,
Sarah
