I have some questions regarding the bible and hope this is the right place to post them. I have read the majority of it in the past but figured I might find answers to my many questions by trying out this 90 day program.

Here is my first questions....

Who are God's friends and was He really our only creator ?

In Genesis 1:26 God says "Let us make man in our image" Who is this us that He is referring to ?

In Genesis 3:22 God says "Man has become like one of us" Again, who is this us that we have become like ?

Jay,

I think the friends God was referring to in the first reading in Genesis refer to the other part of the Trinity which would be the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ.

Hope that helps,

Mark

The "us" that God is referring to I believe is the Trinity-- God the Son, God the Father, and God the Holy Spirit. We as humans reflect that "us-ness" because we are separate as male and female just as God is separate as three distinct beings. Hope this helps.

I believe the reason there is the recurring reference to `there was no king,' is because the people were refusing His Kingship.
- they'd been doing what they wanted to after Joshua died and there was no longer a physical presence to reprimand them & remind them of their promises to obey God. God had already told Moses they were going to do this - (this is a reply to Leslie's comment about `no king;' I don't know why/how it ended up on this page !!)

does it also help with the dating of the writing? (suggests that the first king at least had been installed otherwise they wouldn't have written it. Or is it comparing Israel to other nations who did have kings)

internesting too is the repentance and the prophets go together.

This site isn't exactly Bible in 90 Days, but I think he is doing the same sort of "project". I saw this on MSN web site this AM.
http://www.slate.com/id/2141050/
It is called "Slate blogs the Bible" and it is written by David Plotz. It seems this guy is Jewish and went to Christian schools and had some of the same questions as Ted Cooper that sent him on the 'journey'.

I would recommend reading an additional two or three chapters a day. In about two weeks you will be caught up if you can keep that schedule for the next two weeks. Once you get through Numbers the reading will get easier. You are in a rough area of the Bible that is easy to slip out of the program in. But just remember once you get through this part, the rest is much more enjoyable, it really is.

It appears no official person is checking the forums any longer. There are a number of threads with postings about 'enhancement drugs' and the like that are blatant spam. I would recommend someone being allowed to moderate the discussion boards simply to get rid of spam postings that appear.

Just something that I think would make these forums better.

Hello, Jeff.

As you've noted, we've recently been battling comment spam, particularly on this discussion thread. It seems that spammers have found this site and are programmatically registering for accounts and then posting these auto-generated spam messages that you've seen.

When we notice (or are alerted to) these postings, we quickly delete the offending account and all postings associated with it. Clearly, though, this is a temporary and inadequate fix.

To counter this trend, I am going to:

  1. Close this particular discussion thread to new posts, as it is over a year old and seems most popular with the spammers.
  2. Seek approval from the folks at Zondervan to implement a CAPTCHA step in the account registration process to deter spamming programs from being able to auto-create accounts on this site.

It is my hope that these measures will be sufficient to eliminate the annoying spam comments we've been seeing on the site.

Thank you for alerting us to this issue, Jeff.

Kind regards,

Brett Chaffer
