Real Challengers’ Insights

Below is a list of individual encouragement quotes from actual participants of The Bible in 90 Days program.

“I am an avid reader, but there were times I struggled. To help with this, I rewarded myself. I belong to a book club, and normally read at night. As a discipline, I would begin reading an hour earlier than usual. Instead of reading my books at 9:00 pm, I began reading the Bible at 8:00 pm. This allowed me to read the Bible first and reward myself by reading my book club book afterward.”

“I read some in the morning and some in the evening. I felt it was easier to keep up on the reading this way, and if I did get a little behind, I used the weekends to catch up.”

“I was reading the Bible on the airplane and the person sitting next to me asked me what I was reading. I told them it was the Bible. It was a joy to talk about the Bible in 90 Days program with them. People were genuinely interested in learning about reading the Bible.”

“I find it really important to make time to spend with my family. I read the Bible out loud with my husband. We took turns reading the Bible out loud while our daughter sat nearby quietly playing with her toys. It was nice to know that our daughter was listening intently to the words she was hearing. She was always in the room with us. Now, all she talks about is how much she really loves Jesus, and how she is so excited in professing her love for Jesus. I am blessed to know that my daughter has in essence read/listened or at least experienced, the entire Bible—the Word of God. I was surprised how many surprises there were for me in the Bible. I am amazed how blessed I am to have read the entire Bible cover to cover. It never felt like a burden, just a blessing. My daughter was very alert to the fact that we did not read the Bible the day after we finished. So as soon as we finished, she brought out her personal Bible and said, 'Now it’s time for me to read the Bible.' Family time takes on a whole new perspective these days. Another interesting thing that my husband and I did was to explore Today’s New International Version, the TNIV. My husband read the TNIV translation and I read the NIV translation. It was great to know and discover that there are not many differences between the texts. “

“I began this program as a method to explore the TNIV translation and accomplish a goal of a lifetime. I alternated my reading between the TNIV and NIV translations. By the time I reached reading the Psalms, I put down my NIV and total began to read the TNIV. I found this translation a lot easier to read, and much faster to read. I also liked the fact that the Bible in 90 Days program is for that purpose—to read the Bible in 90 Days! This was more enjoyable for me. I did not feel obligated to study the entire readings each day and try to understand everything. I just took it all in and it has helped me a lot. I realized that I do not have to understanding everything to know what God is saying—It confirmed many struggles that I’ve experienced and helped me a lot.”

“I cried a lot while reading The Bible in 90 Days. I was very moved by the stories of the Bible.”

“By reading the Bible in this format, I felt like I was reading a novel. I remembered the characters and was able to make the connections that bring all the stories of the Bible together.”

“Reading the Bible seemed a little hard at first. It was a change in my personal schedule. However, once the readings became part of my regular routine it became easier to read. It provided me with daily structure, comfort, and relaxation.”
